Being the first textile machinery exhibition of China in 2008, the 9th China (Qingdao) International Textile Machinery Fair (QITMF) has come to an end on April 12, 2008 with tremendous attention from the industry. The 3-day show is a pilot collaborative project between Adsale Exhibition Services Ltd and Qingdao Haiming International Exhibition Co Ltd. Staged in Shandong Province with a board projection to Northern China, QITMF reflects its importance as the best platform for a constructive transformation and the betterment in the textile industry.

Over 150 exhibitors from 8 countries and regions, namely China, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Japan, Korea, Hong Kong SAR and Taiwan Province attended the fair. The exhibiting area reaches 18,000 sqm, of which over one-third took up by overseas exhibitors, featuring its high professionalism. Although the textile market is down streaming in recent years which the textile industry is facing the most critical environment, the fair records 6,000 visitor flow during the 3-day event.

Distinguished guests, including member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering Mr. Mei Ziqiang, Director of Chinese Textile Engineering Society, Mr. Zhang Hauliang, and Deputy Director of Qingdao Government Celebration Office, Mr. Gu Dianjun showed support with their presence at the fair. At the Opening Dinner on April 10, 2008, Mr. Fan Xiutong, Assistant Director of Qingdao Economic and Trade Committee, Vice Presidents of Shandong Textile & Garment Association, industrial leaders, VIPs and over 200 enterprises' representatives celebrated a thriving beginning.

Riding on the solid foundation of QITMF, the 9th edition aims at providing a platform for professional and technology exchange, thus contributing to a positive technological transformation in Shandong Province. With the support of industrial associations, the show has received numerous delegation groups, such as Weihai City Textile & Garment Association, Wendeng City Home Textile Council, Haiyang City Knitting Industry Association, Gaomi City Textile & Garment Association, Laiyang City Textile & Garment Association. These professional buyers shared the difficulties in facing the challenges in textile industry. Although the industrial clusters in the region can manage the pressure from increasing cost and policy changes at the moment, in a long run, the industries require a reform from production to creation. This is for the benefits of the society, also saving energy, improving the technology and building up local brands. After all, the only solution is sourcing new machinery. Taking this opportunity, QITMF provides a sourcing platform for Shandong Province and its neighborhood. The first time exhibitor in QITMF, Nan Sing Machinery Limited, expressed their confidence to Shandong market after the show.

Fabulous concurrent events were one of the attractions during QITMF. Chemtax Industrial Co. Ltd. organized a 2-day fashion show to showcase the latest designs with the application of innovative technology. Visitors experienced the cutting edge and advanced technology via the show. Additionally, Chinese Textile Engineering Society, the media "Shanghai Textile Science & Technology" and Adsale Publishing Ltd jointly organized a specialized seminar "National Seminar on Modern Spinning Technology 2008" and "The 2nd International Conference on New Technology of Dyeing and Finishing" to establish a platform for professional idea exchange.

2008 QITMF also received great support from co-organizers, namely China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Shandong Sub-council, Shandong Province Textile Industry Association, China Chamber of International Commerce Shandong Chamber of Commerce, Shandong Province Textile & Garment Association as well as Qingdao Textile & Garment Association.
